Jig fishing for the game fish you want

Jigging is a great way to get the fish you want in on your boat and on the table instead for bringing home the small ones for dinner. If you follow a few tips, jigging will be much easier and you will catch bigger fish with no problems at all.

Swimming a jig can be done to improve your fishing in the winter and in the summer. To swim a jig is to move the bait in a twitching motion. If you do this successfully, you can get closer to the bottom and closer to the fallen debris that is under the water to catch the big fish hiding underneath the cover.

It is important to watch your line in jig fishing. For instance you should let the bass take the bait before you set the hook. If your line goes tight, let the fish take it for a bit before you set the hook, otherwise if you get to jumpy, you will scare the fish right off the jig and you are likely to scare any surrounding fish away.

You can more fish and much larger fish using the technique called vertical jigging. By this, you pull the spoon towards you and let it slide back. Keep doing this and then you can catch a fish that is normally much more difficult to catch. Horizontal jigging is just pulling the spoon along a horizontal line to the boat.

A Carolina rig is known for just largemouth bass but if you use a tube, lizard, or a fluke, you can catch smallmouth bass to. The Carolina rig can also capture many other types of fish such as walleye, northern and crappie. This puts bass and other fish in the boat no matter what is used for lures.

Don’t go straight up and down when setting the hook for the Carolina rig, go side to side because the hook will be set better. But remember to let them take the line a little bit before you set the hook.
